Invited Guest Speaker & Academic Discussant
Benedicta Apuamah was invited as a guest speaker and discussant at the University of Innsbruck and MCI – The Entrepreneurial School®, contributing to academic dialogue following the screening of the film FATUMA – Struggles and Successes of a Woman in Tanzania.
The post-screening session facilitated a student-centred discussion examining girls’ education and rural realities in Africa, with particular attention to gendered access to education and opportunity. Drawing on research, lived experience, and development practice, Benedicta guided conversations around resilience, agency, and community dynamics, while challenging simplified or single-story narratives about African women and development.
The engagement emphasized the importance of responsible global narratives, representation, and shared accountability, encouraging students to critically engage with complexity and reflect on their role in shaping more inclusive and informed development discourse.
